Stay-at-home instructions, thanks to the disruptive COVID-19 pandemic and an overwhelming desire to preserve the safety of the shopper as well as the seller, resulted in the rise of curbside pickups. Viewed as a compromise between shopping physically at the store and the need to maintain distance between people, this model is fast gaining popularity. In Q2 of 2020, Target’s curbside pickups grew by a whopping 700% compared to the same period in 2019. More and more consumers are recognizing the convenience of this model, compelling retailers to make quick changes and upgrades to their existing fulfillment models.
